Gurgaon, March 23 (IANS) Yogendra Yadav, the AAP's Lok Sabha candidate from Gurgaon, Sunday criticised incumbent parliamentarian Rao Inderjeet Singh, saying he did nothing for the people of the city.
Addressing a gathering Sunday evening in Bhim Nagar area as part of Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal's second and last day of campaigning in Gurgaon, Yadav said Rao Inderjeet "did nothing for people residing in old Gurgaon area".
"He never raised his voice in the interest of the people residing in the new Gurgaon sectors who were cheated by builders. He spoke only twice in parliament in the last five years. It shows his unwillingness regarding public interest," he said.
He said Rao Inderjeet and his father, former Haryana chief minister Rao Birender Singh, "ruled the region for decades but failed to perform for the public".
People now have a strong political alternative in the form of the AAP to choose their right representative, he said.
Rao Inderjeet, who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party after being in the Congress for more than three and a half decades, is contesting on the BJP ticket.
Badshahpur legislator Rao Dharampal from the Congress, and legislator Zakir Hussain from the INLD are the other major candidates.
