The government has already indicated to open schools which have been closed for months. The schools from Class 9 to Class 12 are scheduled to reopen from September 21 onwards. However, for this the government has first sought permission from the parents, that is, if the parents do not want, the child will not go to school.
Whatever the preparations for return to school, the question arises that are parents mentally ready to send their child to school? According to data found in a study by online education company SP Robotics Works, about 78% of parents do not want to send their children to school at any cost until the epidemic is over.
Even if the child has to read the class again
Parents involved in the study will not send children to school until the situation is normal. Even if the child's year is missed for this or why the child does not have to study class again. According to the study, parents living in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad are more concerned about their children.
However, the case is different in Chennai and Kolkata as compared to big cities. Her parents are ready to take risks with their children. It is not that parents and children who are not at risk with children are advocates of online education. 64% of parents believe that there is a better classroom than online education. Not only this, but 67% of the children also do not consider online school education right.
Preeti Dubey, a resident of Bhopal, says, "I am not completely satisfied with online classes, because children are not able to fully focus on online learning as compared to class." However, they only support online classes until the atmosphere is normal.
Parental profession makes an impact
According to the study, parents' profession plays a big role in their response. Statistics show that salaried parents are more concerned about their children. Only 17% of such parents want to send their children to school. While 30% of self-employed and 56% of freelance parents want to send their children to school soon after the school opens.
Children are being affected mentally by being away from school
According to experts, children have been away from their school routines and peers for quite some time. This distance is disturbing them mentally as well. According to Dr. Dhruv Thakkar, a psychiatrist and counselor in Ahmedabad, children are unable to meet with their peers and this is what is affecting them the most.
In such a situation, the opening of school can be beneficial for children's mental health. Apart from this, parents will also be less concerned about children's education and will be able to concentrate on other tasks.
What do parents do when they return to school ...?
Promise of cleaning: Now when the students are going to school, parents should make sure that the child is concerned about precautions or not. Take the promise of repeating all the cleaning and distance habits being remembered at home during the epidemic.
Don't remind again and again: If you say something to children, again and again, they may get upset. Children are also facing the epidemic equally. In such a situation, they also know about their safety. Question the children what they will do in school. This will allow them to explain their way.
Repeat the school routine: The most missed children during online classes is the school routine. Parents again repeat the old ways of school preparations for children. This will give newness to children and they will be excited about school.
Share information: Keep sharing information with children from time to time. Many times children bring wrong information from outside and also start following them. Interact with children openly, so that you get to know their mind and get the right information.
Safety Kit: School bags will also be changed in the epidemic. In addition to copy books, lunch boxes, include extra masks, sanitizers in bags. Keep a hot water bottle with children. They will not have to touch any surface in school repeatedly due to taking water from home.
Do not put the burden of expectations: The epidemic has affected the lives of children too. Away from their friends and classroom activities for months, children will gradually be able to return to their old rhythm. In such a situation, parents should take care not to put too much pressure on them to study. Parents should be supportive of children.
Encourage: Experts say that most children are happy to return to school. Parents and teachers need to keep in mind that this happiness remains. Do not try to explain things on them in the old ways. Maybe a child who has been doing online classes for months may not understand anything immediately. In such a situation, the child should not be disappointed, take care of this.
