The court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM-II) in Shimla has remanded three accused arrested by the Delhi Police from Rohru in Shimla district to transit remand. The three accused, Saurabh, Arbaaz, and Siddharth, were produced at around 1 am in the residence court of ACJM-II Ekansh Kapil, where the Delhi Police's transit remand application was heard and accepted.
Senior panel lawyer Nandlal Thakur, representing the Government of India, stated, "We first submitted an application to the Chief Judicial Magistrate here. He forwarded the application. Now, the local magistrate of Court No. 2 (ACJ) has approved their police transit remand. The three accused will now be produced before the relevant local magistrate in the Delhi court where the FIR was registered."
Earlier, three Youth Congress workers, detained by the Delhi Police from Rohru in Shimla district, were produced in a Shimla court late last night. High-voltage drama continued in Shimla until Wednesday night over the arrest of three Youth Congress workers from the Rohru area of Shimla district, who were involved in the protests during the AI Summit held in New Delhi.
Delhi Police teams were detained by Himachal Pradesh Police while transporting three Youth Congress workers from Rohru in Shimla. Three vehicles carrying approximately 20 Delhi Police officers and personnel, who arrived in Congress-ruled Himachal without prior notice, were stopped at checkpoints in Shoghi, Shimla, and Dharampur, Solan.
Accusing Delhi Police of illegal detention, Himachal Police filed an FIR in Chirgaon, Shimla. Following this, Shimla Police also approached the district court. After a day of high-voltage drama and tension, Delhi Police again left with the three workers late in the evening, but Shimla Police again stopped them at the Shoghi checkpoint. The confrontation continued late into the night.
There was a heated exchange of words between the two sides during this period. Himachal Police, accusing three people of kidnapping, showed the Delhi Police team a copy of the FIR registered against them and appealed for cooperation in the case. Delhi Police, on the other hand, argued that they had filed the FIR on February 20th, and that nine people had been arrested and their police remands had been granted.
Himachal Police claims that this action by the Delhi Police is completely illegal. Delhi Police neither informed the local police before the action nor did it have valid documents to take action. Therefore, this action had to be taken.
