America Taiwan Relations: America assures help to Taiwan amid conflict with China, steps taken regarding trade

America has taken a big step to help Taiwan. The US government is considering a trade deal with Taiwan. Let us tell you that there is a situation of tension between the US and China regarding Taiwan. Because Taiwan considers itself independent, while the ruling Communist Party of China considers it to be part of its country. The announcement was made on Thursday after Beijing conducted military exercises on Taiwan.

 

China's military exercises after Pelosi's visit to Taiwan

 

Significantly, House Speaker of the US Parliament Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan this month. After which China conducted military exercises including a missile firing at sea to threaten Taiwan. The US Trade Representative's office said there was no tension with Beijing. However, the formal talks were to enhance trade and regulatory cooperation, which will now be officially negotiated.

 

America's emphasis on increasing ties with Taiwan

 

US President Joe Biden's Indo-Pacific convener Kurt Campbell said last week that talks about trade with Taiwan would be part of efforts to deepen our ties. He said that America is not changing its policy.

 

Let us tell you that after the civil war in 1949, Taiwan and China were separated. Taiwan has never been a part of China, while China considers it is own. The US has no official ties with Taiwan, but the US maintains close ties with Taiwan through its unofficial embassy.

 

After the US move, there may be a situation of war

 

The Xi Jinping government said Pelosi's August 2 visit to Taiwan could help the island nation perpetuate its decades-long de facto independence. Beijing said the move could lead to a state of war.

 

However, Washington has said that it will not take any stand on the situation in China and Taiwan. Rather, the American wants that the dispute arising between the two should be resolved peacefully. Last week, Campbell said, "We will continue to take calm and firm measures with stability in Beijing's efforts to undermine Taiwan and support Taiwan."

 

A Group of US lawmakers reached Taiwan

 

After Pelosi's visit, a group of US lawmakers led by Sen. Ed Markey arrived in Taiwan on Sunday and met with President Tsai Ing-Wen. After which Beijing announced to conduct of the second round of military exercises. Beijing is yet to react to the US trade talks with Taiwan.

 

Taiwan will get benefits in many areas due to the US move

 

USTR said, "This conversation will affect agriculture, labor, the environment, digital technology, self-owned industries, and non-market policies." However, the information about who will be involved in this conversation has not been given. But he said that talks will take place under the US institution and the informal embassy of Taiwan.

 

US-China relations are at their lowest level

 

Relations between America and China are not good. Relations between the US and China are at their lowest in terms of security and technology, including Beijing's treatment of Muslim minorities and actions in Hong Kong.
