A policeman was present with Baba Siddiqui at the time of the attack.

 

According to the police, all three shooters had brought pepper spray with them. The attackers sprayed pepper on the policeman guarding Baba Siddiqui and then shot the NCP leader dead. The attackers tried to flee from the spot, but people caught two of the accused and one accused Shivkumar managed to escape by hiding in the crowd. Two pistols and 28 live cartridges have been recovered from the two arrested accused.

 

The involvement of Lawrence Bishnoi's gang came to the fore.

 

According to sources, the accused have claimed they work for gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Lawrence Bishnoi, lodged in Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat, is also accused of firing outside the Mumbai residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. Salman Khan and Baba Siddiqui had a deep friendship. According to the police, the accused had been watching Baba Siddiqui for the past several days and was doing his recce. The accused had received an advance of Rs 50,000 each for the murder and were given weapons a few days before the murder.
