Kolkata, April 8 (IANS) The Election Commission Tuesday said the West Bengal state government will provide support to ensure basic amenities at all polling booths across the state.

"We have received communication from the power department regarding provision of electricity in all booths. They (the state government) will bear the cost to ensure electricity is available," chief electoral officer Sunil Gupta told reporters here.

The same has been guaranteed regarding construction of approach roads to the booths by the panchayat development department.

He also stated that the electors who can't show EPIC identification, can be allowed to cast their votes upon production of a photo identification card and one of 11 alternate identification proofs including driving license and passport.

Brochures in English and Bengali will be supplied to candidates for information on EVM operational procedures. They will also be provided with the list of electors in the respective districts by the district officers and returning officers.
