IndiGo flight from Chennai to Mumbai received a bomb threat message. The flight landed safely in Mumbai at around 10:30 pm. IndiGo said that IndiGo flight 6E 5149 from Chennai to Mumbai received a bomb threat. On landing in Mumbai, the crew followed the protocol, and the plane was taken to an isolation bay. All passengers have safely disembarked from the plane. We are working with security agencies and after all security checks are completed, the plane will be landed back in the terminal area.
Earlier, there was a stir in many major cities of the country when the news of the threat to blow up the airport came to light. According to sources, threatening emails were received at different airports at around 12.40 pm. In the threats received on Tuesday from the 'Xhumdu888' email ID, a total of 41 airports in the country were threatened with bombing. After the security agencies conducted an intensive search operation for several hours, the threats were declared a rumor. Official sources said the airports initiated contingency measures after receiving the bomb threat, conducted checks, and searched the terminals following the recommendations of the concerned Bomb Threat Assessment Committee.
An online group called 'KNR' is suspected to be behind these fake threat emails. They said the group had allegedly sent similar emails to several schools in Delhi-NCR on May 1. The emails received by the airports had a nearly identical message: "Hello, explosives have been hidden in the airport. The bombs will explode soon. You all will die." All the airports confirmed the threat as fake and passenger movement was kept as smooth as possible, sources said.
