According to data released by the state health departments, cases of Covid-19 have increased rapidly since June 1 in West Bengal. After Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, there has been a rapid increase in cases of infection in West Bengal. These are the states where the largest number of migrant laborers have arrived. The lockdown caused migrant laborers from industrial states such as Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana and Karnataka after leaving the job.

On May 30, the center released information about the three stages of unlock 1.0. Unlock 1.0 relaxed the restrictions imposed in lockdown and allowed interstate movement from June 1. According to an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, so far one crore migrant laborers have gone to their homes.

With the help of labor trains run by the Center, the migrant laborers went to states like Bihar, Orissa and Jharkhand. The figure for these migrant laborers is from May 1 to the first week of June. Due to the arrival of migrant laborers, cases of Covid-19 increased in these states, although the corona cases in these states are less than in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.

In the first eight days of June, 3,300 new cases were reported in West Bengal while in the first eight days of May this figure was 1,042. In Jharkhand, there were 610 cases in early June which was 360 in May. There are 1,290 cases of corona in Jharkhand. Similarly, in Orissa on May 31, 1,948 cases of corona increased to 2,994.

Corona cases have increased by up to 72 percent due to migrant laborers. Bihar Health Minister Lokesh Kumar Singh said that between June 3 to 5, 20 lakh migrant laborers have arrived in the state with the help of 1,491 labor trains. Health officials of Madhya Pradesh said that even after the recovery rate is 65 percent, the cases of corona coming daily are not decreasing. Big cities like Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur are still in lockdown.

Jharkhand Health Minister Nitin Kulkarni said that a large number of un-tested samples were collected, the results of which were to come in the first week of June. Therefore, corona cases are increasing in the state now. Dr. DK Singh, director of Rajendra Institute of Medical Research, Government Hospital, Ranchi, says that only people living in the Quarantine Center are being tested.

The Orissa government said that 80% of the cases of 1,557 migrant laborers living in the Quarantine Center were reported in the last 15 days. The most worrying thing is that now Corona is spreading its legs in poor areas of Orissa. The Government of West Bengal has surrounded the Central Government regarding the speed of Corona affairs.

There were 3,816 cases of corona in West Bengal on 25 May which increased to 8,613 on 8 June. The state government questioned the central government as to who owned the Indian Railways. Who introduced migrant laborers in trains like sheep. However, BJP state head Dilip Ghosh has accused the state government of hiding the data. Dilip Ghosh says the TMC government has worsened the situation in the state.
