Latur (Maharashtra), April 14 (IANS) In yet another sharp attack on BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi Monday said the Gujarat model is a "toffee model" due to land sold out to industrialists at cheap rates.
"In Gujarat, Adani gets land in just Re.1, the same amount of money which you spend to buy a toffee. It's a toffee model," he said, addressing an election rally in this Maharashtra town.
In Gujarat, only one industrialist was benefiting at the cost of farmers and labourers, who were dying of hunger, he claimed.
"In Gujarat only one man is benefiting," Gandhi said, in a reference to the Adani group, who are reported to be close to Modi.
"One out of every two children is starving in Gujarat; this is the Gujarat model the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) keeps taking about," he said, expressing confidence that the Congress would retain power after the elections.
