Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is going to hold a big meeting with the states on the screening of the airport. In this meeting, the latest situation will be discussed with Airport Public Health Officers (APHOs) and Port Health Officers (PHOs). Taking full vigilance, the government has deferred the decision to regularize international flights for the time being.

Official sources said that the Health Minister will preside over this meeting with the states at 10 am. India has also become fully alert because of the cases of new variants of the coronavirus coming to the fore in foreign countries. The new Omicron variant was revealed for the first time in South Africa on 24 November.

No cases of Omicron have been found in India yet, but international travelers are being closely monitored. The government on Wednesday decided not to resume scheduled international flights from December 15. The DGCA said the date for resumption of international passenger services would be notified in due course. International flights are suspended since March 23, 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
