Agra/Mathura, March 1 (IANS) Grey clouds, chilly winds and frequent spells of light showers on Saturday night dampened Holi fervour in Braj Bhoomi -- the land of Lord Krishna -- and stymied preparations for the festival of colours later this week.
"It's so cold and damp all around. We thought the weather would be warm so that we could celebrate Holi for the next couple of days," complained Ritika Garg, who has come to Vrindavan from Mumbai along with her family for the week-long Holi festivities here.
Showers began Saturday evening accompanied by gusty winds in Agra.
"For the standing wheat crop, light showers will not make much difference," said farmer Ravi Singh from Agra.
The weather office in Lucknow has forecast inclement weather till Monday evening.
