The first semi-final match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is between India and New Zealand. These two teams are meeting in the semi-finals for the second consecutive time in the history of the ODI World Cup. The first semi-final of the 2019 ODI World Cup was also held between these two teams and New Zealand defeated India and made it to the final. This time India will try to avenge the four-year-old defeat by winning and playing the final on home soil.

The Indian team has been in excellent form in this World Cup. India won all its nine matches in the league stage and remained unbeaten and made it to the semi-finals. In the entire tournament, the Indian team has entered with changes in only two matches. Shardul got a chance in the second match in place of Ashwin, who played in the first match, and after Hardik got injured in the fourth match, Mohammed Shami was included in place of Shardul, and Suryakumar Yadav was included in the team in place of injured Hardik.

After this, India played five consecutive matches with the same team and won all the matches easily. In such a situation, there is no possibility of change for Team India even in the semi-final match. The opening pair of Rohit and Gill is doing wonders. Virat, who bats at number three, is the highest run-scorer in this tournament. Shreyas Iyer has scored more than 400 runs while playing at number four. At number five, Rahul is playing the role of troubleshooter very well. Suryakumar, at number six, has also done his job well when given a chance. At the same time, Ravindra Jadeja is also finishing the match brilliantly at number seven.

Ravindra Jadeja is also doing wonders with the ball and along with Kuldeep has taken wickets continuously in the middle overs. The trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami is creating history in fast bowling. In such a situation, it is very difficult to make any changes in the Indian team.

There may be changes in New Zealand's team

There is little possibility of change in New Zealand's batting. Rachin and Conway are sure to open and captain Williamson will play at number three. Daryl Mitchell's place at number four and Latham's place at number five are also confirmed. Trent Boult, Loki Ferguson, and Southee are certain to play in bowling. Santner will take charge of the spin from one end. In such a situation, James Neesham or Ish Sodhi can be given a chance in place of Mark Chapman. Neesham is an excellent all-rounder, apart from being an explosive batsman, he is also a useful fast bowler. At the same time, Sodhi is a good spinner and his record against India is also good. If the Kiwis bowl first then Sodhi may be given a chance. At the same time, Neesham can play if bowling later.
