Israel: African Union revokes Israel's observer status, expels ambassador from the assembly hall

The African Union on Sunday revoked Israel's observer status. After which Israel was not invited to the African Union meeting. At the same time, furious with this decision of the African Union, Israel has accused Iran of conspiring against it. Israel said Iran, with the help of Algeria and South Africa, had revoked its observer status.

Explain that in the year 2021, Moussa Faki Mahamat, head of the African Union Commission, had given Israel the status of Observer in the African Union. However, many member countries of the African Union such as Pretoria, etc. opposed this decision. It was considered a major diplomatic success for Israel. The African Union is an organization of 55 countries. Many of these are Muslim-majority countries. Israel has diplomatic relations with 46 of these member states.

Last year, in the African Union meeting, there was a demand to remove the status of Observer country to Israel. Along with this, a demand was made to discuss this matter by forming a committee of heads of member countries. However, it was rejected by the African Union. Now ending the status of Israel, the head of the African Union Commission, Faki said that the observer status of Israel has been suspended till further orders and till then the committee will discuss it and take a decision. Because of this, Israel has not been invited to the meeting of the union.

Explain that a video has surfaced on social media, in which Israel's Foreign Minister's Deputy Director General for Africa Sharon Bar Lee is being taken out by security personnel from the Assembly Hall of the African Union in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. This move of the African Union has made Israel very angry. Israel has alleged that the African Union has been held hostage by hardline countries such as Algeria and South Africa and is being controlled by Iran.
