A hearing on the bail plea of Ashutosh Bhardwaj, accused in Delhi's Kanjhawala hit and drag case, was held in Rohini court on Monday (January 16). The court has reserved the verdict on the bail plea of the accused. Opposing the bail plea in the court, the Delhi Police argued that the matter is serious and they are in the process of imposing section 302 (murder) in the case.

Earlier on Friday, the Delhi Police suspended 11 personnel on duty in the PCR van and picket in Rohini district at the time of the incident. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had on Friday directed the Delhi Police to suspend all personnel deployed at three PCR vans and two pickets at the time of the incident.

Home Ministry said to impose section 302

The action was taken following a report submitted by an inquiry committee headed by Special Commissioner Shalini Singh. The Ministry of Home Affairs, after receiving the detailed report, had asked the Delhi Police to invoke Section 302 of the IPC against the accused persons.
