Bhubaneswar, Jan 8 (IANS) A reader at a state-run university in Odisha was arrested for allegedly molesting minor daughter of a colleague, police said Thursday.
K.N. Sethy, 45, head of the history department in Sambalpur University in Burla in Sambalpur district, about 330 km from here, was arrested for committing the crime in the university campus Jan 4, Additional Superintendent of Police S.K. Panigrahi told IANS.
Sethy allegedly went to the house of his colleague when the 12-year-old girl was alone at home. He molested her and tried to rape but fled when she shouted, Panigrahi said.
The girl narrated her ordeal to her parents when they returned home. Her father reported the matter to the local police Wednesday. Police launched an investigation and arrested Sethy, Panigrahi said.
