Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone and land worship of the proposed Ram temple in Ayodhya on Wednesday afternoon. The list of politicians who are not able to attend this event under the shadow of Covid-19 is getting longer because they are quarantined.
175 people have been invited for this program and brought soil from 2,000 places and water from 1,500 sources. These have been selected with much thought to reflect the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS )'s interpretation of Indian history and its attempt to highlight its inclusive Hindutva.
This opportunity will remind some again of the weakening of the campaign that began in 1947 to build a secular India. For the supporters of the Sangh Parivar, the construction of the Ram temple would mark the end of 492 years of 'national humiliation and shame', which began with the construction of the Babri Masjid at the site in 1528-29 by the commander of the Mughal ruler Babur. The mosque was demolished on 6 December 1992 by a Hindu mob. The Supreme Court, in its order dated November 9 last year, cleared the way for the construction of the Ram temple. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached Ayodhya on Monday to take stock of the preparations. He will share the stage with the Prime Minister on Wednesday afternoon at the event in this religious city. Modi will lay the foundation stone for the symbolic beginning of the construction of the Ram temple with silver 40 kg blocks. Ram temple has been included in the BJP's main agenda since 1989. The Ram Mandir movement was started in 1984 by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), an ideological ally of the BJP. Adityanath is the Mahant of the influential Gorakhnath Math. His two predecessors, particularly Mahant Digvijay Nath (1894–1969), played an important role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. In the year 1949, he recited the Ramayana for a week in Ayodhya and within a few days, the idol of Ram Lala appeared in the Babri Masjid. Adityanath's supporters already see him as Modi's successor. With the start of the construction of Ram temple, his election campaign to win again in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections of March 2022 will begin. Apart from Modi and Yogi, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat and Ram Mandir Trust chief Mahant Nritya Gopal Das will be present on the dais.
Interestingly, no other Chief Minister or Union Minister of the Bharatiya Janata Party will participate in the program. For nearly three decades, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, a lawyer for Ram Lala, has quarantined himself. He said that he had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The home minister was admitted to the hospital on Sunday after being found corona positive. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa are also quarantined in hospitals.
Other leaders of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement will also not attend the program. BJP leaders Lal Krishna Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi are expected to join the program online. Uma Bharti said that she would be present in Ayodhya that day, but would not attend the program. However, it is not known whether he was invited.
VHP's Champat Rai said that 175 people including 135 saints have been invited to the program. Rai is also the general secretary of the Ram Temple Trust. Importantly, invitation letters have also been sent to Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists, representatives of Kabir Panthi, Ravidas, Lingayats, and tribal traditions. Its purpose is to embrace inclusive Hindutva by embracing the traditions of all castes, especially Dalits and other backward classes.
Rai said that the first invitation was sent to Iqbal Ansari, one of the Muslim parties in the Ayodhya case, in which the Supreme Court ruled on November 9 last year. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Wednesday dismissed the controversy over the statue wearing green cloth. Rai said that it is an old tradition that the idol is dressed in colorful clothes according to the day of the week and the color of Mercury (Mercury) is green. Extensive arrangements have been made for the event and subsequent ceremonies. The VHP has asked Hindus around the world to celebrate this day as a celebration of Diwali by lighting a lamp on Wednesday. People living in Ayodhya will light a lamp from Monday.
Soil worship of 1,500 religious and historical places and 2000 sources of water will be used in Bhoomi Poojan which includes all major rivers, lakes, and ponds. Soil has been collected from places such as the Haldi Valley where there was a war between the Rajput king Ranapratap and Emperor Akbar in the 16th century. Apart from this, the soil of the Golden Temple, Ravidas Temple of Varanasi, the site associated with Bhimrao Ambedkar, and the headquarters of the Sangh in Nagpur have also been taken. Rs 10 crore has been transferred to the new temple trust by the erstwhile Ram Janmabhoomi Trust for the construction of the temple. Mahant Kamal Nayan Das said that donations have been received. A saint associated with the trust said that the cost of construction of the building has not been made public but it will cost several hundred crores of rupees. On Wednesday, VHP workers will ask for donations of 100 rupees from 10 crore families across the country after the Bhoomi Pujan. An architect family from Ahmedabad designed the temple. Chandrakant Sompura was approached by the then VHP chief Ashok Singhal who designed the Ram temple 30 years ago. With more land available for the construction of the proposed temple, his sons Ashish and Nikhil Sompura presented an expanded design of the temple last month where more than 4 million people would be able to visit in a year and reach 10,000 to 15,000 people at any given time But there will be no problem.
The new revised design will have the height of the temple at 161 feet, length 313 feet, and width 118 feet. Its floor area will be 28,000 square feet. The entire campus will be spread over an area of one lakh square feet. Built-in the Nagara style of Hindu temples, this temple will have a ground floor and two floors which will be constructed from pink sandstone called Bansi Paharpur in Bharatpur in Rajasthan. Civil and construction work will be handled by Larsen and Toubro. This temple is to be completed before the Lok Sabha elections of 2024. There will be a Ram temple on the ground floor, while Lord Rama's court, Sita, Laxman and Hanuman will sit on the first floor. It will also have 360 columns carved with images of Hindu deities. A new railway station in Ayodhya based on the design of the temple to be built for Rs 104 crore has also been approved. Uttar Pradesh Minister Shrikant Sharma said that Ram temple will give a boost to the economy of Ayodhya and will generate employment.
Meanwhile, the Congress government in Chhattisgarh has approved several projects during the last few days to build temples and develop them as pilgrimage sites associated with the Ramayana. State Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced the construction of the temple of Kaushalya, mother of Lord Rama near Raipur. He has also announced the development of places along Ram Van Gamaan Path. These are the places where Rama, Sita, and Lakshman went or stayed during their exile. Many of these places are in Chhattisgarh.
Congress has said that its leader Rajiv Gandhi had opened the doors of Ram Janmabhoomi to the devotees and also talked about the foundation stone of the temple there.
Iqbal Ansari was also invited
Haji Iqbal Ansari, who was an advocate of the Babri matter, has been invited for the Bhoomi Poojan program of the temple to be built on the Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. Udupi Math, Mahant Dharmadas, who have different opinions from the parties in the temple case, and many others have also been invited to the program. The organizer of the event, Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, has invited Haji Iqbal Ansari on Monday morning for the event to be held on 5 August.
On Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached Ayodhya and took stock of the preparations there. Many religious programs for Bhoomi Poojan have started on Monday. The Chief Minister has also appealed to the devotees to watch this program on television only while staying in their homes and not to visit Ayodhya because of the danger of corona infection.
