French President Emmanuel Macron awarded the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor to PM Narendra Modi. It is the highest French honor in military or civilian orders. PM Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to receive this honor. Prime Minister Modi thanked President Macron for this unique honor.
"A warm gesture symbolizing the spirit of India-France partnership," Arindam Bagchi, official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, said in a tweet. This honor given by France is another in the series of top international awards and honors given to PM Modi by different countries. These include the Order of the Nile by Egypt in June 2023, Companion of the Order of Logohu by Papua New Guinea in May 2023, Companion of the Order of Fiji in May 2023, Abakal Award by the Republic of Palau in May 2023.
