US Airstrike on Syria Amid the Israel-Hamas war, the US Army this morning carried out airstrikes on two locations associated with Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps in eastern Syria. The Pentagon said the strikes were a response to recent drone and missile attacks against US targets and personnel. Earlier last week, American soldiers were attacked in Syria.

Revenge for attacks on American soldiers in Iraq and Syria

There have been at least 12 attacks on US targets and troops in Iraq and four in Syria since October 17, according to the Pentagon. Air Force Brigadier General Pat Ryder said 21 US personnel were injured in the two strikes, which used drones to target the al-Asad airbase in Iraq and the al-Tanf garrison in Syria.

The US is aggressively attacking Iranian-backed groups, possibly to deter potential attacks from Israel's war against Hamas.

Attacks on Iran-backed militia groups

The US alleges that Iran-backed militia groups attacked American troops in Iraq and Syria on October 17. As a result of these attacks, one US civilian contractor died and 21 US personnel suffered minor injuries, but all of the injured have since not returned to duty.
