उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने बुधवार को राज्य में 15 कोविद -19 हॉटस्पॉट को पूरी तरह से सील करने की घोषणा की जिसमें कोरोनोवायरस का प्रसार शामिल है। सरकार ने कहा कि 15 स्थानों पर प्रतिबंध, 15 जिलों में फैला हुआ है, गुरुवार आधी रात को लागू होगा। निवासियों को बाहर निकलने की अनुमति नहीं दी जाएगी, हालांकि आवश्यक वस्तुओं के वितरण की अनुमति दी जाएगी।
हालांकि इस फैसले के लिए ठोस तर्क हो सकता है, जिस तरह से उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने इस कदम की घोषणा की जिससे दहशत फैल गई। यह 24 मार्च की शाम की याद दिलाता है जब प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की चार घंटे की राष्ट्रव्यापी तालाबंदी की टेलीविजन घोषणा के बाद यह उल्लेख करने में विफल रहा कि भारतीय आवश्यक वस्तुओं तक कैसे पहुंच पाएंगे, जिससे बाढ़ में डूबे लोगों को खरीदने के लिए जो कुछ भी हो सके।
