The ruling BJP has also reacted sharply to this comment, asking whether the Congress now expects Rahul Gandhi to play cricket.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari, in response to the Congress leader's post, said, 'Congress should be ashamed! Now they are after the Indian cricket captain! Do they expect Rahul Gandhi to play cricket now after failing in Indian politics?'

After this, Mohammad Shama has clarified. He compared Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli and said that Virat Kohli always praises other cricketers. He said, 'I just spoke in a normal way. I failed to understand how we do not have the right to speak in a democracy.'
