Today marks the beginning of the last month of the year, December. This year, however, could have a significant impact on the pockets of ordinary people. LPG cylinder prices have dropped, while changes in aviation fuel prices are expected to make air travel cheaper.

LPG Cylinders Cheaper

The price of LPG gas cylinders has been reduced, effective December 1, 2025. Oil companies have reduced the price of commercial gas cylinders by ₹10. In Delhi, the price of a 19-kilogram commercial LPG gas cylinder has now dropped from ₹1590.50 to ₹1580. However, there has been no change in the price of domestic gas cylinders.

PAN-Aadhaar Linking Deadline

The Income Tax Department has set December 31, 2025, as the deadline for linking PAN cards and Aadhaar cards. Failure to do so on time could result in your PAN being deactivated. This could cause problems with ITR filing, bank KYC, and government subsidies.

Air travel will become more expensive.

Effective December 1, 2025, the price of Air Turbine Fuel (ATF), used in aviation fuel, has been increased. Indian Oil has released a list of new ATF prices in four major cities.

ITR Filing Deadline

The deadline for filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs) is December 10, 2025. According to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), small business owners and professionals with a turnover of more than ₹1 crore can file their ITR for 2025-26 only by December 10.

The last date for filing ITR with late fees is December 31, 2025. Failure to file ITR on time may result in a notice from the Income Tax Department. In such a situation, those with income up to ₹5 lakh will have to pay a late fee of ₹1,000, and those with income above ₹5,000 will have to pay a late fee.

Possible Repo Rate Reduction

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has called a meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) from December 3-5. During this period, a 0.25 percent reduction in the repo rate is anticipated, bringing the repo rate to 5.25 percent. This will make loans even more affordable for ordinary people.

Bank employees will be in for a treat.

The month of December may see a bumper bank holiday. Including all holidays, most banks may remain closed for 17 days this month. However, these holidays vary by state. Therefore, be sure to check the RBI Bank Holiday List before visiting the bank.
