The Central Water Commission on Friday said that 22 river monitoring stations across the country, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, and Odisha, have reported a severe flood situation, while 23 others have recorded water level above normal. Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are the most severely affected sites, with eight stations each reporting a severe flood situation.
According to the daily flood situation report of the Central Water Commission (CWC), one station each in Gujarat, Delhi, Jharkhand, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Bengal is in the severe flood category. Water level has been recorded above normal at 23 other stations, including Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Bengal.
The CWC said that water flow forecasts have been issued for 46 dams and barrages, including 12 in Karnataka, six in Telangana, five in Andhra Pradesh, and several dams and barrages in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand. Authorities have been advised to strictly control the operation of dams as per standard protocols to prevent flooding in the downstream areas.
Delhi's Yamuna River is in severe flood conditions.
The Yamuna River at Delhi's old railway bridge is flowing in severe flood conditions, but there is a declining trend. In Gujarat, rivers like Narmada, Tapi, Damanganga, and Sabarmati are likely to continue with heavy flow for the next two to three days, due to which a high alert has been issued in Bharuch, Surat, Vadodara, Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, and Rajkot districts.
Rivers in spate in Rajasthan
Rivers like Mahi, Sabarmati, Chambal, and Banas are in spate in Rajasthan, due to which severe flood warnings have been issued in Pratapgarh, Banswara, Udaipur, Kota, Bundi, and Jhalawar. Heavy rains are expected in districts like Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, and Pune in Maharashtra, increasing the risk of severe flooding in rivers like Tapi, Bhima, Koyna, and Warna.
More rivers are flowing above the danger level in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Uttar Pradesh continues to face a serious situation, with Ganga, Yamuna, Ramganga, and Ghaghara rivers flowing above danger level in districts like Mathura, Ballia, Shahjahanpur, Barabanki, Farrukhabad, and Fatehpur. The situation also remains serious in Bihar, with the Ganga, Kosi, Gandak, and Ghaghara rivers in Patna, Bhagalpur, Siwan, and Khagaria facing serious flood levels.
The Commission has urged the public and state authorities to remain alert, monitor water levels in real time through its website, and take necessary precautions in flood-prone areas.
Agriculture Ministry to submit detailed report on Punjab floods to PM Modi

Chouhan wrote on Twitter that the crisis in Punjab is big, but the central government will leave no stone unturned to overcome this crisis. The Agriculture Minister said that crops have been destroyed across the state and assured that the central government stands with the farmers in this hour of crisis.
He stressed the need for planned reconstruction of flood-affected areas, which requires short-term and long-term strategies to help the state recover. Highlighting the post-flood challenges, Shivraj Singh Chouhan warned of possible outbreaks of diseases when the water recedes.
