According to government figures, the number of elderly people in Covid-19 deaths in the country is high. 50 percent of those who died are elderly. Of this, 73 percent are elderly who were already unwell.

38% of the patients who died of corona are between 60-74 years old and they constitute eight percent of the total population. At the same time, 12 percent of the patients who die from corona are 74 years old.

The data of these deaths from Covid-19 has been released by the central government. So far the total death toll from Corona has reached 5,598 in the country and the total number of infected cases has crossed two lakh.

When asked questions about India's ranking in the list of Corona affected countries, Health Ministry Secretary Love Aggarwal said that the number of corona patients in the country cannot be seen separately from the total population.

He said that the death rate of corona in our country is 2.82 percent, which is much lower than the rest of the world. From a global perspective, the death rate of corona in the world is 6.13%. Love Aggarwal said the death rate in the country is low because timely infected cases were identified and treated with good facilities.

Love Aggarwal told that Covid-19 has a mortality rate of 0.41 per cent in one lakh people in the country and the same death rate is 4.9 per cent in the world. The government is not relaxing the data on deaths from Covid-19.
