55 countries issued manifestos regarding the future of the internet, India is not involved in it at present, America said - doors are open

The White House said on Thursday that more than 55 countries have announced a manifesto about the future of the Internet. Its doors are still open for countries like India, which have not joined.

 

The White House said the announcement for the future of the Internet is a response to a growing trend of digital autocracy, including Russia's actions to block credible news sites and promote propaganda during the invasion of Ukraine. That said, this declaration represents a political commitment between the partners to advance a positive vision for the Internet and digital technologies. It re-emphasizes the promise of the Internet in the face of the global opportunities and challenges presented by the 21st century. It also expresses the commitment of partners to a global Internet that is truly open and promotes competition, privacy, and respect for human rights.

 

The US also released a list of countries supporting this declaration. These countries include Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, European Commission, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, etc. Regarding India, a senior US administration official said that it is not yet included in this manifesto. But, the time is not completely over for India to be a part of it.
