New Delhi, April 2 (IANS) All the six former ministers of the AAP Delhi government will reach out to voters in Varanasi, where party chief Arvind Kejriwal faces Narendra Modi, and Amethi, where Kumar Vishwas will battle Rahul Gandhi.
After the April 10 Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, the entire team of the former cabinet ministers will leave for Uttar Pradesh for campaigning, a party leader told IANS.
"The former ministers will be able to showcase party's achievements in government in Delhi. They will camp in Amethi and Varanasi," a senior party leader said.
Kejriwal will take on Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate in Varanasi, while Vishwas has been pitted against the Congress vice president. Amethi and Varanasi will go to polls on May 7 and May 12.
The electoral battles in Varanasi and Amethi will be of high-voltage and the party wants to put all its might to win the big ticket constituencies.
While five ministers - Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Girish Soni, Satyendra Jain and Somanth Bharti -- are busy campaigning for candidates in Delhi, AAP's former women and child development minister Rakhi Birla is party's Lok Sabha candidate in North West Delhi.
In its 49-day government AAP claims to have provided cheap water, power and reduce the level of corruption in Delhi.
"Yes, we all will go to Varanasi and Amethi after Delhi elections," one of the former AAP ministers confirmed to IANS. He however did not wish to be identified by name.
Besides, the half of AAP's Delhi volunteers will throng the two constituencies for campaigning.
"We have around 30 to 40,000 volunteers and half of them will be sent to help the unit of Varanasi and Amethi," another party leader told IANS.
Party sources told IANS that Birla might gather Dalit votes in the state.
"After all she is AAP's Mayawati," a party leader said, referring to the Bahujan Samaj Party supremo and the former chief minster of Uttar Pradesh.
