The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will also investigate the case of the death of Mansukh Hiren, owner of Scorpio recovered from outside Antilia. The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has decided to hand over the investigation to the NIA under section 8. ATS Chief Jayjit Singh has confirmed this.
ATS took over the investigation after Mansukh's death. A case of murder was filed in it. During the investigation, ATS has so far recorded the statements of 25 people in the case. The Union Home Ministry has also issued an order in this regard. After which it is believed that the NIA will be handover soon on the case.
If the agency is investigating a scheduled crime, then it can also investigate any other case committed by the offender. Mansukh's body was recovered from the Gulf of Mumbra on 5 March. His wife accused former CIU officer Sachin Bazhe of getting him murdered. After the former CM Fadnavis took up the matter in the Assembly, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh handed over its investigation to the ATS.
ATS suspected of involvement in Waze's murder of Mansukh
Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) filed its reply in Thane session court regarding the anticipatory bail plea of Sachin Vazh, who was suspended and arrested in the Antilia bomb case. Meanwhile, the ATS has demanded his custody, expressing suspicion that he was involved in Mansukh's murder. ATS wants to know what happened between March 4 and 5? What was the sequence of events? Where was the Scorpio car between 17 and 25? Was she with However, the court has not given any decision on this and postponed the next hearing till 30 March.
Waze said when Mansukh went missing he was in Dongri
Sachin Vaze said in his bail plea that an FIR was lodged to implicate him. Mansukh Hiren was in Dongri, south Mumbai when he went missing and was allegedly murdered. Vaze had filed a petition for anticipatory bail in Thane Sessions Court on March 12, a day before his arrest, in which Sachin Vaze said that the FIR of Maharashtra ATS is baseless and meaningless. No person is named in the FIR. However, the court had not ruled on his plea then and adjourned the case for March 19.
Demand to meet lawyer alone canceled
The NIA has also interrogated several officers of the Crime Intelligence Branch of the Mumbai Police where they were stationed and so far seized five vehicles including two Mercedes. The NIA court on Friday rejected Vazhe's lawyer's request that he ask his client's permission to meet in private, despite being in the agency's custody. He is in NIA custody till 25 March.
Is this the whole case?
On February 25, a Scorpio SUV car with explosives and threatening letters was found near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani in south Mumbai. Hiren claimed the car belonged to him, but it was stolen a week before the incident. The matter came to light when Hiren was found dead on 5 March by a river in Thane. Hiren's wife claimed that her husband had given the SUV to Vyaz in November last year. He returned the car in the first week of February. However, he denied this.
