India Vs West Indies: Why the ODI series against West Indies was of no use for the Indian team? These are the 3 main reasons

Posted on 2nd Aug 2023 02:01 pm by rohit kumar

The Indian team won the series 2-1 by defeating the West Indies by 200 runs in the third ODI in Trinidad. In the third ODI as well, senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were rested, but in this match, the young brigade performed brilliantly and helped Team India win by a huge margin.

In the last ODI, Team India was excellent from batting to bowling, but seeing the condition of the second ODI of this series, it is believed that the Indian team is currently not fully prepared for the big tournament.

Let us tell you that this ODI series was very important for India keeping in mind the ODI World Cup, but this series could not be of any use to Team India. Let us know the main reason behind this through this article.

1. Middle order

Let us tell you that after the 2011 World Cup, the Indian team has not been able to find any strong contender for number 4. Which batsman will be seen batting at number 4 in the World Cup 2023, it is not being decided, because Shreyas Iyer is currently walking out of the field due to injury.

His fitness has become a talking point for the team, but whether he will make a comeback in the Asia Cup or not, no one has an answer at the moment. In this series too, Akshar Patel was seen batting at number 4 in the second ODI, but he proved to be a flop and in the last ODI, Sanju Samson batted at this number and scored a brilliant half-century.

2. 15 contenders not found for the World Cup

Let us tell you that Team India has not been able to find 15 contenders for the World Cup 2023, because KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have been injured for a long time and no one knows whether they will return to the Asia Cup or not. Jasprit Bumrah has been out of the field since last year, although he is coming back in the T20 series against Ireland, still, the team is worried about his fitness.

The picture of which batsman will be seen playing this role in the finishers is not clear at the moment. Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja, these three batsmen have been seen batting from number 4 to number 7 for a long time. At the same time, in the bowling section as well, the team management does not have the answer as to who is the better option between the two spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.

3. Spin's open wrist

Let us tell you that Team India had to face defeat in the T20 World Cup 2022 because on many occasions the team got weak due to not having the right bowling combination. Shardul Thakur was seen performing brilliantly in the series against the West Indies. On the other hand, when it comes to spin, Ravindra Jadeja could not perform anything special. Jadeja did not get a single wicket in all three matches, but Kuldeep Yadav looked to perform. He took a total of 4 wickets in three matches.
