Union Minister Anurag Thakur has criticized some foreign newspapers. He also commented on the American newspaper New York Times. He said that the New York Times had long ago given up its claims of neutrality while publishing anything on India. Anurag has described the New York Times article on press freedom in Kashmir as mischievous and imaginary. He said that the purpose of this report is to spread propaganda about India and its democratic institutions and values.
Foreign media lying about India and PM
The Union Minister said, "The New York Times and some other like-minded foreign media are spreading lies about India and our democratically elected Prime Minister Narendra Modiji. Such lies cannot go on for long."
The press is free in India
He said that some foreign media has been trying to spread lies about PM Modi and India for a long time. Freedom of the press in India is as sacred as fundamental rights. He said that democracy in India and we the people are very mature. We do not need to learn the grammar of democracy from such agenda-driven media. The lies spread by the New York Times regarding the freedom of the press in Kashmir are condemnable. Indians will not allow such a mindset to drive their decisive agenda.
Congress also accused
Anurag Thakur also accused Congress of defaming India on foreign soil. Talking to the media, he said, "Congress should clarify its motive. Going abroad and defaming our country is the culture of Congress and Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi should stop spreading hatred."
