Monkeypox RT-PCR Kit: India alert on the increasing threat of monkeypox, first Indigenous RT-PCR kit made for testing

The outbreak of monkeypox virus is increasing rapidly all over the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a health emergency worldwide regarding monkeypox. However, it is a matter of relief that the monkeypox virus has not yet reached India. But given its increasing cases, preparations to prevent it have intensified. Meanwhile, an Indian company making health equipment has claimed that it has developed a real-time kit to detect monkeypox.

 

A major achievement in fighting monkeypox

 

India's Siemens Healthineers has developed its indigenous RT-PCR test kit to fight monkeypox. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has also approved it. The company said that this is an important achievement for our Make in India initiative. Apart from this, it is a major achievement to fight monkeypox.'

 

About 10 lakh kits will be made every year

 

Indian company Siemens Healthineers said that the RT-PCR test kit will be prepared at a unit in Vadodara. About 10 lakh kits can be made every year. We are fully prepared to make these kits available to the people.

 

Prioritizing quick and accurate identification

 

Siemens Healthcare Private Limited Managing Director Hariharan Subramanian said that the need for correct and accurate diagnosis has become more important today. He said that by providing India with a kit specially designed to deal with monkeypox, we are taking a proactive approach to fighting this disease. Prioritizing quick and accurate identification can play an important role in saving lives. These kits are a testament to our focus on improving access to care and these kits are an important step towards that goal.

 

According to Siemens Healthcare Private Limited, the test results will be available in 40 minutes. The company claimed, 'The result of the test which takes one to two hours will be available in just 40 minutes.'
