The Supreme Court will on Monday hear Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea challenging the Delhi High Court order upholding the summons issued to him in a criminal defamation case for retweeting an allegedly defamatory video circulated by YouTuber Dhruv Rathi in May 2018. Have challenged.


 

A bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta is likely to hear the case in which Kejriwal has admitted that he made a mistake by retweeting the alleged defamatory video. On March 11, the top court asked Kejriwal whether he wanted to give an apology to the complainant in this case.


 

 

CM retweeted the derogatory video

Kejriwal had on February 26 told the apex court that he had committed a mistake by retweeting an allegedly derogatory video circulated by YouTuber Rathi belonging to the BJP IT cell. The lawyer appearing for complainant Vikas Sankrityayan told the top court that Kejriwal can apologize on social media platforms like microblogging platform 'X' or Instagram.


 

CM Kejriwal admitted his mistake

On February 26, the top court, without issuing notice on Kejriwal's plea challenging the high court order, asked the complainant whether he wanted to close the case as the petitioner had admitted that it was a mistake. Senior lawyer Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for Kejriwal, had said, 'All I can say is that I made a mistake by retweeting.'
