Major auto taxi driver organizations of NCR have announced a strike on the 22nd and 23rd of August. During this time, there is a possibility of about four lakh passenger vehicles not coming on the roads for two days.
More than 15 unions were involved in the strike
Auto, taxi, and app-based cab services will be affected due to the strike. More than 15 major auto, and taxi drivers of NCR including Taxi Chalak Sena Union, Delhi Auto Tricycle Driver Union, and Rajdhani Tourist Driver Union have announced a two-day joint strike.
Auto Taxi Strike: Why are drivers on strike?
It is feared that one lakh autos and four lakh taxis, including more than one lakh cabs, will not run. Along with the strike, there is also a sit-in demonstration of taxi and auto drivers on 22nd August at Jantar Mantar.

Who will be affected due to the strike?
According to the information, more than 15 major auto and taxi driver unions, including Taxi Driver Sena Union, Delhi Auto Tricycle Driver Union, and Rajdhani Tourist Driver Union, have joined this strike.
Due to this protest, about four lakh vehicles including autos and taxis will not run on the roads, due to which people in NCR may face trouble in movement.
What is the demand of the unions?
The unions say that on one hand, auto taxi drivers are suffering losses due to app-based cab service. On the other hand, app companies are exploiting cab drivers, charging them a hefty commission.
Similarly, bike taxis and e-rickshaws are also harming their employment. They say that the central government and the state government are not stopping this arbitrariness. Therefore, in the interest of the drivers they are forced to go on strike.
