Panaji, April 3 (IANS) BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi should be booked for sedition for calling Defence Minister A.K. Antony a Pakistani agent, Congress leader Shantaram Naik said Thursday.
Naik, a Rajya Sabha MP and All India Congress Committee secretary in-charge of Karnataka, said in a statement that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has "politically killed" senior party leaders in order to fulfil the Gujarat chief minister's dream of becoming the prime minister.
"Modi's statement constitutes an offence of sedition under the Indian Penal Code and hence an FIR should be registered against him and investigation should be ordered," said Naik.
Modi allegedly made the remark while campaigning in Jammu and Kashmir.
Naik said Modi has neglected the security of coastal areas in his own state which are close to the Pakistan border.
He said the Centre allotted 30 boats with night vision cameras to the Gujarat government, but they were not used when there was a need for coastal vigil.
"Instead of setting up coastal police stations, money was used for police stations in Banaskantha and Ahmedabad which are not relevant to coastal security," Naik said.
He said that with the emergence of Modi, the BJP as a party has been wiped out and senior leaders like L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Murli Manohar Joshi, Jaswant Singh and Lalji Tandon have been "politically killed".
