The President of Ukraine has written a letter to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. He has requested the PM to send additional humanitarian aid regarding the Russia-Ukraine war.
Significantly, Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Emin Zhaparova has come on a four-day visit to India. This is the first time since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war that a Ukrainian leader is visiting India. Earlier, he had read ballads in praise of India in a statement. He said that supporting Ukraine is the only right choice for a true Vishwaguru. He also met Sanjay Verma, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, and Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, during his visit. On the other hand, regarding Pakistan, he said that Ukraine's relations with Pakistan are not against India's interests.
Appeal to come with India
During her address, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emin Zhaparova said that Ukraine wants closer and deeper ties with India. At ICWA she said that I have come here with a very important message that Ukraine wants India and Ukraine to come closer. There are different pages in our history. Nevertheless, we can start a new chapter. He said that we would also be happy to welcome Indian leaders and officials in Kyiv.
Eager to welcome PM Modi
Zhaparova, the first Ukrainian leader to visit India after the Russian aggression began on February 24 last year, had said that an invitation has already been extended to Prime Minister Modi to visit Ukraine. President Zelensky has also invited the Indian Prime Minister. He said that we want to strengthen our relations with India. Zhaparova said we are looking forward to welcoming PM Modi to our country.
