Samajwadi Party MPs created a ruckus over the stampede in Mahakumbh before the budget speech. Samajwadi Party MPs along with National President and MP Akhilesh Yadav created a ruckus before the budget speech and demanded a discussion on the stampede in Mahakumbh.

 

Amidst the ruckus, the Lok Sabha Speaker said that this has never happened before. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla told the agitating SP MPs that I request you, Honorable Akhilesh ji, you maintain the dignity of the Parliament. This has never happened inside the budget speech. This is not right. I will give you a chance. There will be a discussion on the Governor's address. This is not the way.

 

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman started her budget speech amid protests from party MPs including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

 

Earlier, Samajwadi Party chief and party MP Akhilesh Yadav said that "More important than the budget at this time is that people are looking for their loved ones in the Maha Kumbh. People are not able to find their loved ones. The government is hiding the figures of the dead. The government has failed to tell the number of dead and missing people.

 

He said that the Chief Minister has gone there many times, the Union Home Minister has gone there, the Vice President is going there today and the Prime Minister will also go there. The government should wake up. I had said earlier also that the army should be called there. This is the first time that saints have refused to take the Shahi (Amrit) bath. The budget is in its place but Kumbh is important. The budget should not disappoint, but the lives lost in Kumbh are the priority of the Samajwadi Party."
