Chandigarh, Jan 6 (IANS) It was the coldest day of the season for Chandigarh and adjoining areas with the maximum temperature plummeting to 10.5 degrees Celsius, nine degrees below average.
The hill station town of Shimla was warmer than Chandigarh in the day as it recorded a maximum temperature of 15.4 degrees.
Tuesday started on a foggy note for Chandigarh residents and the day remained misty and overcast.
The minimum temperature recorded Tuesday was 7.6 degrees, three degrees above average, while the figure at most places across Haryana and Punjab remained between 6.8 to 9 degrees.
However, the maximum temperature showed a dip of 4 to 9 degrees below normal, weather officials said here.
Due to this, the chill factor in the day was more than in the night.
In Haryana, Ambala and Hisar recorded highs of 11.8 and 14.3 degrees, seven degrees below average.
In Punjab, Patiala and Ludhiana were the coldest with highs of 12.6 and 13.1 degrees respectively.
Weather officials said that dry weather would be witnessed over the region in the next two days with moderate to dense fog at some places.
