The party can play a safe game amidst the ongoing tussle for the face of the CM in Punjab Congress. In this, Charanjit Channi and Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu can be made the face of CM for two and a half years. However, after the formation of the government, who will become the first CM, it will be decided by the party MLA. The math of the vote bank in Punjab elections is such that Congress cannot take risks by naming anyone.

 

In Punjab, Congress will announce the CM face tomorrow (Sunday). For this Rahul Gandhi will come to Ludhiana. He will announce the CM face from Ludhiana at 2 pm through a virtual rally. Rahul's virtual rally will be telecasted live in 117 assembly seats of Punjab.

 

First, understand it from the point of view of Charanjit Channi...

 

Congress will directly lose 32% Dalit vote bank if Charanjit Channi is not made the CM face. If Congress leaves Channi's side then the wrong message will be sent among Dalits. It would appear that Congress had made Channi a makeshift CM only to garner votes.

 

Congress is now seeking votes only on Channi's 111 days of work. Earlier, Captain Amarinder Singh, who had a government of four and a half years, has allied with the BJP. If Channi is not the only face then on what basis will Congress ask for votes.

 

Why Navjot Sidhu is important

 

Navjot Sidhu is a big face for Congress in Punjab. Congress snatched the CM's chair from Captain Amarinder Singh by playing bets on Sidhu. Tickets were given on many seats only at the behest of Sidhu.

 

By ignoring Navjot Sidhu, there will be a direct loss of 19% JattSikh vote bank in Punjab. Congress does not want to send the message that it is playing bets only on Dalits in Punjab. This will cause a big loss to Congress in the largest Malwa region with 69 seats.

 

The Congress fears that if Sidhu does not become the CM face, then he may suddenly take such a step which will make it difficult for the Congress in the middle elections. Sidhu has already surprised everyone by resigning on the issue of not changing the DGP and Advocate General. In such a situation, the party will suffer a loss in the election and the opponents will also cash in on this issue a lot.

 

Dalit and Jattasikh vote bank necessary for Congress

Dalit and JattSikh vote banks are essential for Congress in Punjab. This is because Congress is facing a lot of trouble in the Hindu vote bank. His big Hindu face Sunil Jakhar is away from the campaign. At the same time, a few days ago, he said that despite having 42 MLAs in his favor, he did not make him the CM, which the opponents made an issue that Congress did not make Jakhar the CM because of being a Hindu. At the same time, the Captain and BJP alliance in the cities can also harm the Hindu vote bank for Congress. In such a situation, it has become a compulsion for Congress to play bets on the Channi-Sidhu pair.

There is a tussle in the Congress in Punjab after the departure of Captain Amarinder Singh. In such a situation, putting forward one face is like hitting an ax on the feet for Congress.
