SIT will now investigate the case of the death of 16 children by drinking cough syrup 'cold' in Madhya Pradesh. The police have formed a 12-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case. Dr. Praveen Soni has been arrested and suspended in the case. It is alleged that Praveen wrote this phlegm syrup for most children. Also, a case has been registered against the company making cuff syrup.

The Madhya Pradesh government banned the sale of coldfriend syrup and the company's medicines with immediate effect. The Union Health Ministry has started an intensive investigation of drug factories in 6 states.

Officials said that the financial assistance of Rs 4-4 lakh declared by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has been transferred to the families of the deceased.



Protest over the doctor's arrest

In protest against the arrest of Dr. Praveen Soni, the Indian Medical Association has warned of an indefinite strike from Monday. At the same time, the Congress has also announced a sit-in demonstration at Fountain Chowk, accusing the government of negligence.

The police have registered a case against the doctor and the company under Section 105 (non -non-irradiated murder) of the Indian Code, 276 (adulteration in medicine), and Section 27A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. If it is proved, it provides for punishment ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment.
