Ghaziabad, Feb 9 (IANS) The Ghaziabad police Monday took a Delhi Police constable into custody following a scuffle he had with an on duty traffic police sub-inspector here after crossing a traffic signal in an alleged inebriated state.
Constable Rajendra Singh scuffled with Ghaziabad's traffic sub-inspector Jagmohan Bisht while the latter was on duty, the police here said, adding that the Delhi Police constable along with an accomplice violated the traffic rules.
"At 11.30 p.m. Sunday night he jumped the red light at ALT cut on Meerut Road. When he was stopped and questioned about the violation, he scuffled with the traffic team and threatened them," Ashok Shishodia, a police inspector at Sihani Gate police station, said.
"Singh said that he also belonged to the police force in Delhi and so he would teach them a lesson for stopping police force personnel," the officer added.
Singh was taken to the police station and during medical examination he was found drunk. His accomplice Vinay was also supporting him in the illegal act so the police took both of them into custody.
The Ghaziabad police are investigating the case. The Delhi Police have verified his credentials.
It is yet to be decided whether to book Singh for his illegal action in which Ghaziabad police officers have sustained injuries or allow him to go after a simple warning, the Ghaziabad police inspector added.
