On August 15, India is going to celebrate the 75th anniversary of its Independence Day. To commemorate this anniversary of independence, the largest ever tricolor will be hoisted on Times Square, a major Indian expatriate organization of America.
The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut will host day-long celebrations starting with the hoisting of the tricolor at Times Square on August 15 to mark Independence Day.
The first India Day billboard will be displayed for 24 hours on Times Square, the Empire State Building will be illuminated in the colors of the Indian tricolor, and the day will end with a spectacular cruise on the Hudson River. The cruise will be attended by special guests, top officials, and members of the Indian American community. On this occasion, information has been received about hoisting the Indian tricolor 6 feet long and 10 feet wide. At the same time, the height of the pole will be 25 feet.
Last year too, on the occasion of the country's Independence Day, the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) had hoisted the national flag on the tricolor Times Square. This was the first time that the tricolor was hoisted on Times Square. FIA President Ankur Vaidya said that our organization has decided that we will unfurl the tricolor at Times Square every year because the celebration of Independence Day has a special significance. Ankur said that we want to continue this tradition every year. This year, the tricolor that we will unfurl at Times Square will be the largest among the tricolors that have been hoisted here.
