Schools will open in Delhi from September 1. The Kejriwal government has decided to reopen schools in a phased manner because of the decreasing cases of the corona. First, from September 1, schools will open for classes from 9th to 12th. After this, from September 8, students of classes VI to VIII will be called to the school. Parental approval will be mandatory and children will not be forced to attend school.
The decision to open the school was taken in a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Friday. Earlier, the Expert Committee of the Delhi Government had submitted its report to the government. The committee had recommended the opening of schools for all classes. The committee had said that schools should be opened in a phased manner.
A committee of experts constituted by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority suggested the reopening of schools for all classes in Delhi in a phased manner. The committee had suggested that this should be done stepwise, in which schools should be reopened first for the students of higher classes and then for the students of lower classes. After a review of COVID-19 infected cases, primary students should be called to the school.
In March last year, schools in the national capital were ordered to be closed due to Corona. While several states started partially reopening schools in October last year, the Delhi government in January this year allowed regular classes only for students of classes 9 to 12. But classes were again postponed after an increase in infection cases during the second wave of the pandemic.
