During the second ODI between India and West Indies played on Sunday, an incident stopped the heartbeat of all the fans for a while. Team India captain Shikhar Dhawan became the victim of a fatal bouncer. Due to this the match had to be stopped.
Something happened that during the 11th over of the Indian innings, West Indies fast bowler Romario Shepherd bowled a dangerous bouncer to Dhawan. Dhawan wanted to go ahead and play this ball. Due to the extra bounce, he was completely beaten and the ball hit the back of his helmet. His head was completely shattered. Even Gabbar's helmet was broken. However, after some time, Dhawan looked completely fit. The injury was not too bothersome and Dhawan was ready to play the next ball.
Sahma Gabbar is out
Dhawan was stunned by Shepherd's bouncer. Shepherd bowls the next ball again short. This time Dhawan played an upper cut well outside the off-stump, but there was no good contact between the ball and the bat and Kyle Meyers took a brilliant catch on the boundary. Shikhar Dhawan, who played brilliant innings of 97 runs with his bat in the first ODI, could not do much in the second ODI. He faced 31 balls and scored just 13 runs. Not a single four or six came off his bat.
Shardul was also narrowly left
Recently, on the fourth day of the fifth Test against England in Birmingham, Team India's all-rounder Shardul Thakur narrowly escaped injury. A bouncer from England pacer Matthew Potts hit Shardul's helmet. The ball was so fast that a part of the helmet broke off and fell to the ground.
The match had to be stopped for 10 minutes. Potts also sent Thakur to the pavilion the next over. Thankfully, Shardul did not get any serious injury. Shardul was examined by the team doctor and physio immediately after the incident. After everything was found to be fine, the game was restarted.
