On Thursday, after almost 11 years, the maximum temperature of Delhi fell to 12 degrees, which is seven degrees below normal. Relief is expected due to a change in wind direction in the coming days. There is a possibility that there may be an increase in the maximum. As many as 22 trains coming to Delhi from different parts of the country are running late due to various reasons, including fog conditions in the northern region.
According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of light rain or drizzle from January 8. There may be some improvement in the temperature after the rain. This will increase the maximum and minimum temperatures. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, New Delhi, the maximum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 12.5 degrees Celsius on Thursday, which is seven degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 7.7 degrees Celsius, which is one degree more than normal. Earlier, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded on January 7, 2013, and the lowest was 12 degrees Celsius.
On Thursday, cold winds blew from a north-west direction. Due to the cloudy sky, sunlight could not be seen and there was a melting-like situation throughout the day. The Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for Thursday. This was the first severe cold day of the season. During this period, Jafarpur Kala remained the coldest area of Delhi. The maximum temperature recorded here was 10.5 degrees.
On Friday, the wind direction is likely to change to east and northeast. Changing wind directions can lead to an increase in temperature. The sky will be clear during the day. Cold-day to severe cold-day conditions may occur in some places. During this period, the maximum temperature can be around 16 degrees and the minimum temperature can be around 6 degrees Celsius. It is expected to remain foggy in the morning throughout the week.
Chance of rain on January 8
According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of light rain or drizzle on January 8 and 9. Due to changes in weather conditions, rain may increase the temperature. There is a possibility that by January 10, the maximum temperature of Delhi may increase by five degrees and the mercury may reach 17 degrees. The department believes that there may be a change in the weather due to rain. This will clear the sky which may improve the situation.
