Status after 3rd round allotment
The university released the third list of seat allotment on Sunday and students were given time till Tuesday to accept the allotted seats. At the end of the second round of allotment, more than 61,500 students have taken admitted to the university. In the third round, 16,231 seats were allotted for undergraduate programs. Till 7 pm on Monday, 9,504 students have accepted the college and the courses allotted to them.
In Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, most of the seats in the commerce and arts departments are filled, and only one out of two is vacant. However, vacancies in science courses are still in double digits. Principal Hemchand Jain told news agency PTI-Bhasha that there were 912 sanctioned seats in the college and till 3 pm, 748 students had confirmed their admission by paying fees. Jain said that the seats in the commerce and art departments have already been filled. “We are facing a problem in filling the seats in science courses in the third round as well. However, we are hopeful that most of the seats will be filled in this round,” he said.
Seats are vacant at Deen Dayal Upadhyay College
Deen Dayal Upadhyay College has 14 vacancies in Botany, 10 in Computer Science, 14 in Electronics, 19 in Mathematics, and 22 in Physics for B.Sc (Hons) course. Zoology and Life Science also have eight and 12 seats vacant respectively. At the off-campus Rajdhani College, Sanskrit and science courses including chemistry, electronics, and physics have maximum vacancies. The college has 1,192 sanctioned seats and 900 seats have been filled till Monday night. Principal Rajesh Giri told news agency PTI-Bhasha, "Seats are still vacant in science courses. This is the situation every year. Science courses are always filled late. Science students have a lot of options as they can take admitted to many commerce courses as well. Already 1,375 students have been admitted.
Admission process in three stages
Principal B Nanda said, "Most of the seats in all the courses are already filled. Even in science courses, seats are not vacant." However, she admits that this year it took time to fill up seats in science courses as the admission process started late. "Science students may have already taken admitted to engineering or medical colleges. Our admission process started in September, which is late," Nanda said. The admission process, which began on September 12, is being conducted in three phases - application process, preference filling, and seat allotment-cum-admission. This year, the university is taking admission based on the Common University Entrance Test score instead of Class 12 marks.
