European Union's warning to Elon Musk, Twitter can be banned in 27 countries for not following the rules

The European Union has threatened to ban Twitter. A top European Union official said on Wednesday that Twitter would have to comply with new rules. He said that if Twitter does not follow the rules, it can be banned in 27 countries along with imposing massive fines. He also stressed that Twitter needs to strengthen measures to protect users from hate speech, misinformation, and other harmful content.

 

New rules have to be followed

EU digital policy commissioner Thierry Breton told the Tesla CEO that social media platform Twitter will have to significantly increase its efforts to comply with the new rules, also known as the Digital Services Act. This act will be implemented next year. Elon Musk and Breton held a video call to discuss ongoing preparations for the legislation, which includes issues related to how tech companies have better policies on their platforms for content on terrorism, child intimate abuse, hate speech, and commercial scandals Huh.

According to a statement issued by Breton\'s office, Musk said steps would be taken to implement the new rules. He said that transparent user policies will be implemented and freedom of expression will be protected.
