Exclusive: CNG shortage in Gurugram, demand of 4 lakh kg every day, supply only 2.5 lakh kg

At present, the CNG crisis in Millennium City does not seem to be going away. The demand and supply of four lakh kg of gas per day is only 2.5 lakh kg. This huge gap of 1.5 lakh kg in demand and supply is the reason for the CNG crisis. Due to this reason, the gas at CNG pumps is getting exhausted in the evening.

Rahul Chopra, the CEO, of Haryana City Gas Distribution Limited, said that 95 percent of the CNG supply in Gurugram is coming from the GAIL Gas Authority of India Limited. Gas is being supplied from GAIL at pumps. When there is a shortage of gas, RLNG (Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas), a type of imported gas, is supplied. Both these gases are CNG only.

With effect from July 11, GAIL has suddenly reduced the supply of RLNG by 25 percent without assigning any reason. Due to this the shortage has suddenly increased so much. There is an average demand of 10 thousand kg at a pump, but only 7500 kg is being supplied. Due to this, gas is not available in the evening. Its solution will be done only at the level of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas of the Central Government.

Rahul says that the gas quota of Gurugram has not increased for the last four years. In contrast, the number of CNG vehicles has increased very rapidly. At present, Gurugram has a demand of four lakh kg of gas per day and is getting only 2.5 lakh kg. From the end of the year 2019 to the middle of 2021, the movement of people was decreasing due to corona infection, so the demand was less.

Now the effect of the corona is ending, due to which the work is gaining momentum, so the demand for gas is increasing rapidly. The Secretary level officers of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas have been apprised in this regard. Hope it gets resolved soon.

HCGDL is giving 95% gas

Haryana City Gas Distribution Limited, which entered the gas business in 2008, currently operates 42 CNG pumps across the country. In Gurugram, this company is supplying 95 percent gas from its 34 pumps. The company is continuously expanding. This company has 2 pumps in Hisar, 5 in Jhajjar, and 3 in Nagpur. New pumps are about to open in Raipur in Chhattisgarh and Yemen in Andhra Pradesh.

GAIL GETS SUPPLIED

The Gas Authority of India Limited has a supply meter center at Udyog Vihar. From here, Haryana City Gas Distribution Limited gets gas supply through the pipeline. It is supplied in Standard Cubic Meters (SQM). One SQM contains about 1.35 kg of gas. Which is recorded and the bill is generated. At present, the pump operators get a commission of about Rs 1.50 per kg.

Pump shortage continues

Ajit Singh, the manager of the HCGDL pump operating in Sector-15 Part One near Rajiv Chowk, says that the pump was open in the year 2015. For the first time in 7 years, there has been such a crisis. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the pump remained closed from 6.30 pm to 6.30 am. The crisis continued on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday as well. This pump is going to open 24 hours, due to compulsion, the work is being stopped in the evening.
