Tirupati, April 30 (IANS) BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi said that the FIR booked against him in Gujarat shows the panic in the Congress.
Addressing an election meeting Wednesday night in this temple town in Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh, he said that the Congress was staring at defeat. "They are worried because a tea seller has challenged their dynasty," he said.
The Gujarat chief minister said he would not forget April 30 as for the first time in his life, a FIR was registered against him.
"Not a single FIR was registered against me. I was not even booked for driving a scooter on the wrong side or for wrong parking," he said
"One can understand if an FIR is registered for showing a knife, pistol or a gun but I was booked because I showed a lotus," Modi said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party leader was booked for showing off his party symbol close to a polling booth in Gandhinagar where he voted.
Opposition parties, including the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, complained that this violated the model code of conduct. On the urging of the poll panel, the Gujarat authorities filed a police complaint against Modi.
