Keeping in view the possible deterioration in the air quality in Delhi with the onset of October, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday announced a ban on the storage, sale, and use of all types of firecrackers in the national capital.
CM Arvind Kejriwal has made this announcement from his Twitter handle. He has written in his tweet that, "Like last year, because of the dangerous situation of Delhi's pollution at the time of Diwali for the last 3 years, this time also all types of firecrackers are used. There is a complete ban on storage, sale, and use. So that people's lives can be saved."
Appeal to traders not to store
CM Kejriwal made another tweet in which he wrote, "Last year a complete ban was imposed because of the seriousness of the pollution after the storage of firecrackers by the traders, which caused loss to the traders. There is an appeal to all the traders not to do any kind of storage because of the complete ban this time.
This decision has come a few days before the festive season. This year Diwali will be celebrated on 4th November.
Significantly, several agencies have been directed by the Delhi government to submit a detailed plan by September 21 on the management of various factors responsible for the rise in air pollution during winter in the city. A day after this, the Delhi government announced a complete ban on crackers.
