G20: 'G-20 manifesto is proof of PM Modi's diplomatic skills', UNGA President said on the successful organization of the summit

India and PM Modi's leadership are being praised across the world for brilliantly hosting the G-20 Summit and unanimously accepting the New Delhi Leader's Declaration (NDLD). Now Dennis Francis, President of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, has also praised. He said that the manifesto issued in the G-20 is proof of the diplomatic skills and expertise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his team.

Francis congratulated India for the excellent outcome of the G-20 summit. He said that I think it is a testament to the diplomatic skills and dexterity of PM Modi and his team that they were able to keep the G-20 together in issuing a joint statement.

Let us tell you, that Dennis Francis has assumed his role as President of the 193-member United Nations body for the 78th session this month. He said that we need to build unity. We need cooperation. It is noteworthy that the G-20 summit was held in India's capital Delhi on 9 and 10 September. During this period, India hosted leaders of the world's largest economies. The leaders attending the G-20 summit are US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

 

SDG summit will be held next week

Let us tell you, that world leaders will gather in New York next week amidst the ongoing war in Ukraine, the impact of the epidemic, global economic uncertainty, and climate emergency. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) summit is going to be held on 18-19 September. Francis said his message to incoming heads of state and government would be to be “courageous and constructive” in their approach to the high-level week.

 

Only seven years remain for the implementation of the SDGs. Let us tell you, that we are on track to achieve only 15 percent of the SDG target. The SDG Summit will be an opportunity for all sectors of society to accelerate action towards achieving global goals.

 

The UN General Assembly President said that people around the world depend on the international system and the United Nations to take action in areas that can bring meaningful change to their daily lives, such as poverty alleviation and hunger. Francis said that about 86 crore people are living with hunger and the Covid-19 pandemic has increased their pain.
