Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a post regarding AI. In which PM Modi talked about the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence Summit 2023.
PM Modi wrote in his post, I would like to invite all of you to an exciting event that celebrates progress in AI and innovation – Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence Summit 2023! (the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence Summit 2023) The summit will start on December 12.
I am sure you will love being a part of this vibrant platform. We are living in a very interesting period.
Decades of fast-paced innovation and the power of human endeavor have brought to life what was once considered merely the realm of imagination.
In these fast-paced times, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one such area where its applications are expanding rapidly.
PM Modi further wrote that this revolutionary technology is now in the hands of the new generation – young, brilliant minds who are rapidly enriching its immense potential.
India, as one of the youngest countries with a vibrant start-up ecosystem and a talented workforce, is set to be an active contributor to the development of AI as the world moves towards the not-too-distant future.
India provides solutions that are scalable, secure, affordable, sustainable, and replicable globally. India's Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) initiative is a prime example of such pioneering efforts.
In the last 9-10 years, India and its citizens have taken huge leaps with the help of technology. It would not be an exaggeration to say that India achieved in a few years what took other countries a generation. This is made possible through high-speed mobile access along with internet connectivity and scalable models for digital inclusion.
Similarly, in the field of AI, India wants to take a giant leap to empower its citizens.
PM Modi said that whether it is serving the citizens in their language,
Be it making education easy and personalized,
Whether it's making healthcare more accessible,
Be it making agriculture more informative,
India is using AI for various productive purposes.
The world is seeing today that...
When India grows, it does so by ensuring an equitable and inclusive model of development.
PM Modi further said that when India innovates, it does so to ensure that no one is left behind.
When India leads, it does so to ensure that it takes everyone along towards the goal of the greater good.
In the same spirit in the field of AI, India's vision is to enable a universal understanding and conducive environment to advance the use of AI for the betterment of humanity.
In this regard, platforms like the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), of which India is a co-founder, are important.
GPAI brings together 28 member countries and the European Union as its members to guide the responsible development and use of AI.
Since its inception in June 2020, India has made significant contributions to the GPAI, actively engaging in various initiatives to promote the development, deployment, and adoption of open, secure, and accountable AI.
India's election to the Council in November 2022 reflects its dedication to safe and trusted AI.
As the lead Chair of the GPAI, India reaffirms its commitment to using technology, especially AI, for the welfare of people, ensuring that nations of the Global South are not the last to benefit from it.
PM Modi said India is dedicated to paving the way for a regulatory framework that ensures safe and reliable AI, bringing all countries together for widespread and sustainable implementation.
The summit will have many interesting sessions including AI Expo, in which 150 startups will showcase their strengths.
