Indian women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur may be ruled out of the first two matches of the upcoming Asian Games to be held in China. The International Cricket Council (ICC) may take action against him for disrespecting the equipment and publicly criticizing the match officials in the tied third ODI against Bangladesh.

Harmanpreet was given out lbw, but he said that the ball had touched the bottom edge of his bat. In a fit of rage, he pulled down the stumps before returning to the pavilion. After the match, he described the umpiring as very poor and taunted that the umpires should stand with the teams at the award ceremony.

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana had left with her team and asked Harmanpreet to learn better manners. According to sources, the ICC is considering whether to give him three demerit points or four. If four demerit points are accumulated in 24 months, the player is banned from one Test or two limited-overs matches.

If three demerit points are awarded, only a financial penalty will be imposed and if four demerit points are awarded, Harmanpreet will not be able to play the first two matches of the Asian Games. Harmanpreet has been accused by the ICC panel match referee Akhtar Ahmed, who is also from Bangladesh. If she is banned for two matches, she will not play in the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Asian Games.
